Onboarding
How long does it take to get up and running?
There is no implementation project. Your team signs in, hands Cade the client’s PBC documents in any format, and starts working the engagement. Most of what a preparer needs to know, Cade shows them as they go, and we stay alongside your team through the first engagements.
What does training look like?
Cascade is built so a preparer can ask Cade how to do something and get it done on the engagement in front of them, so most of the learning happens on real work rather than in a classroom. Beyond that, training is as much or as little as your team wants: we run onboarding sessions and we’re on call through busy season.
What do we need to get started?
The PBC documents you already collect, in any format: prior-year returns, workpapers, partnership agreements, trial balances, and the workbook the last preparer built. Cade reads each file, works out what it is, organizes it into the engagement, and tells you what’s missing.
We’ve acquired firms that each have their own legacy technology tools and workpapers. How does that work?
Acquired teams hand over their legacy files as they are, and Cascade standardizes them into one engagement format. The firm ends up with one process and one deliverable, without retraining every office or rebuilding every workbook.
How do we get our teams to adopt it?
Our goal is for Cascade to be a tool practitioners want to use rather than one they feel forced to use. As practitioners, we know the goal is always the fastest way to get the work done accurately and with confidence. When a tool delivers that, people use it. Cade does the setup, the mapping, and the first draft, and review happens in the app with every number traceable to its source.
Working in Cascade
What kinds of partnerships does Cascade handle?
Everything from simple standalone partnerships to complex multi-tier fund structures. One platform and one workflow at every level of complexity, so the fund work doesn’t need a separate tool or a separate team.
How are allocations handled?
Cascade handles the full range of partnership allocations, from simple pro rata, to special allocations of specific line items, to complex target capital account calculations based on a hypothetical liquidation. Your team can set up the allocations directly, or Cade can read the partnership agreement and apply it. Either way, each partner’s share is derived with every step shown.
What happens when a lower-tier number changes late?
This is the advantage of a connected database over standalone files. Change the number once at the lower tier, and every upper tier that depends on it is flagged. Once you approve the update, the new figures pull through each tier and the K-1s regenerate.
How do we review the work and get comfortable the numbers are right?
The same way you review today, with less digging. Every page in the app shows how a number was built, and review notes sit on the figure in question until a reviewer clears them. Any K-1 amount can be traced back to the trial balance. And the tax calculations themselves run on deterministic code, not on an AI model, so the same inputs always give the same answer.
Does Cascade replace our tax software?
No. Cascade does the partnership work before the return goes into your tax return filing system, which stays in place for filing and e-signing.
Cade
What is Cade, actually?
Cade is an AI agent that works inside Cascade as the preparer on the engagement, and it teaches your team how to use the app as they go. It reads client documents and partnership agreements, maps trial balances, sets up allocations, works through review notes, and produces K-1s, using the same screens and the same calculation engine your team uses. It also answers questions: ask how an allocation was derived, where a number came from, or where to do something in the app, and Cade explains or takes you there. You manage the engagement; Cade does the preparation.
How much should we trust an AI with tax work?
Tax calculations, such as allocations, capital accounts, and tiering, run on deterministic code. Cade’s job is to read, organize, prepare, and explain, and everything it does is visible, reviewable, and attributed to it in the engagement history. You decide what Cade may do on its own and what waits for your sign-off.
Is our client data used to train AI models?
No. Client data is never used to train AI models in Cascade.
Security
Is Cascade secure enough for client data?
Cascade is SOC 2 compliant, with a Type 2 audit underway. Each firm’s data is isolated and encrypted, access is role-based with single sign-on, and every change is logged. The Security page has the detail, and we go through your IT and security review with you.
